At 5:28,November 8, 2011, Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center made a great breakthrough, the domestic first double coil pulse magnet which was developed by the center successfully achieved 83T magnetic field intensity, refreshing the highest pulse magnetic field intensity records in China once again, and exceeding the acceptance index of the national pulse magnetic field experimental device magnetic field intensity, making the level of China's non-destructive magnetic field strength jump into the top three in the world.
This test magnet adopted a double coil structure, the core diameter of the magnet is 14 mm, including the coils of inside and outside, using 10 capacitor module power adopting1.6MJ and 8MJ respectively to supply. Compared with ordinary single coil magnets, double coil magnets could produce higher field intensity, but its structure is more complex, more difficult to develop, and the power supply and control requirements are higher, and it is also the important challenge for the engineering and technology of Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center.
At the beginning of 2011, the center put more than 80T magnetic field intensity as the annual focus. The staff conducted repeated discussions and studies from the electromagnetic, mechanical, thermal design and other aspects of the design of the magnet, carefully analyzed the possible problems and did the responses. January 6, the power department completed the module installation and debugging of 14.8MJ pulse capacitor power, July 20, the control department completed the joint debugging of the power system and the control measurement system, October 11, the magnet department completed the double coil magnet winding, installation. After nearly a year of efforts, power, control, measurement and other systems were ready.
At 3 pm ,November 7,the test officially began, the voltage gradually increased from 500V to 5kV, 10kV, 15kV ... ... 22kV. On the morning of November 8th, under the charging voltage of inside coil 14.5kV / outside coil 22kV, Magnet successfully achieved 83T peak magnetic field, and the magnet, power supply, control system all are normal.
Using 10 capacitor modules to supply power and test at the same time and making a breakthrough of 80T magnetic field intensity all were the full range of verification of the construction of the high pulse magnetic field experimental device reliability and it proved that the center of the pulse magnet technology, power technology, control technology and measurement technology in Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center has reached a world-class level, which was an important progress of China's high magnetic field technology development!
