From 19th to 20th June, 2014, the second lecture about “Klaus von Klitzing” was held successfully in Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center in our school. The lecture lasted for two-day, which was divided into two parts including academic report sand workshops.

At the academic conference on the first day , ANDO , tenured professor of physics department at Tokyo university of technology(condensed matter physics theory) ,explained in detail the quantum transport of carbon nanotubes and exciton absorption phenomenon, involving the content of loss of back scattering, phonon and the electron scattering, topological defects, two-photon absorption and exciton absorption, A - B effect, vertical excitation, environmental impact and high order effects, and many other aspects. In addition, he also described the positive spin magnetic polarization resistance rate in graphene, the characteristics of multilayer graphene, the interaction and unique transport characteristics between electron and phonon, etc. Rich amount of information and wonderful interpretation made teachers and students of the present day benefit a lot from the lecture.

The next day, the seminar about “quantum magnetism and resistance physics” was held at the C204 meeting room in the center. The seminar attracted experts and scholars from famous universities at home and abroad including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and Technology of China , Fujian institute of research on the structure, Renmin University of China , Wuhan University, etc. They had carried on the extensive discussion about the frontier research field of low dimensional quantum magnets and resistance physics research under pulse high magnetic field from the sample design and growth, structural analysis, physical property measurement, etc. After a full discussion, the experts hoped Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center can give full play to the role of the national basic research platform, gathering a large number of researchers from home and abroad, and forming a close cooperation of scientific research team around the subject , further increasing the international competitiveness in the physical research of quantum magnetism.

Successful convening of the second lecture about “Klaus von Klitzing” built a good platform for the teachers and students in our school to have a dialogue and communication with the domestic and foreign well-known scholars. The experts at the conference were highly positive about the construction of all the facilities in the center, at the same time, they had made valuable suggestions for the future development of the center.
