At 10:30 pm, October 20, 2010, Wuhan National High Magnetic Field Center made an important breakthrough in the high field magnet test, and the pulse magnet by the center of own designed, winding, processing pulse magnet successfully broke through the 75T magnetic field intensity, which refreshed the highest pulse magnetic field of the domestic record, 2 years ahead of the magnetic field intensity acceptance criteria of the National Development and Reform Commission to our center.

At the beginning of 2010, the center magnet department put achieve 75T magnetic field strength as the focus of the annual work. In order to ensure foolproof, all the staffs of our center magnet department under the leadership of Professor Peng Tao were meticulous from the magnet electromagnetic, mechanical, thermal design to parts processing and the final assembly, and carefully analyzed the possible problems and responded. The center through a special optimization design, the use of pure copper material designed 75T magnet. The magnet is made of 2mm × 5mm copper wire and high strength HM Zylon fiber, the diameter of the magnet is 10mm and the height is 100mm, and the designed magnetic field is 75T, which was the highest field strength magnet in the world.

For the goal of early realization, the center staffs to work overtime, to give up the holiday break, after a few months of fighting, October 22, magnet installed in place, power, control, measurement and other systems are ready, the voltage gradually increased to 500V 5kV, 10kV, 15kV ..., and finally the peak magnetic field of 75.5T was realized at 20 kV charging voltage on the evening of October 26, and the current peak reached 35.5kA.

The success of the 75T magnetic field experiment, had accumulated important experience for my center reaching world record, becoming internationally renowned high magnetic field center.
