报告摘要:

Tellurium (Te) is a chiral elemental semiconductor whose helical crystal structure gives rise to strong spin–orbit coupling, unconventional electronic spin textures, and rich quantum transport phenomena. These properties make Te a unique platform for exploring the interplay among crystal chirality, electronic structure, symmetry, and charge transport, while also offering opportunities for ultra-low-power electronics. In this talk, I will discuss our studies of chiral two-dimensional Te, spanning fundamental condensed-matter physics to device applications. I will first introduce the electronic structure and spin–orbit-coupled transport in Te, including Landau-level physics, quantum-geometry-induced negative magnetoresistance, and transport signatures associated with chirality.I will then discuss device applications of Te, including ambipolar transistors, low-voltage electronics, superconducting hybrid devices, and monolithic 3D integration with oxide semiconductors. Overall, these studies establish chiral Te as a versatile platform that bridges unconventional quantum phenomena with scalable, energy-efficient semiconductor technologies.
