报告摘要:

In this lecture I will introduce the physics of colour centres in diamond and their potential applications for sensing and imaging. I will explain how colour centres may be used to detect the magnetic fields emanating from single nuclear spins and how this opens a perspective towards the possible detection of protein structure. I will also show how similar techniques can lead to the control of these nuclear spins and their hyperpolarisation which may allow us to improve magnetic resonance imaging.


报告人简介:

Alexander Von Humboldt Professor; Director of the Institute of the Oretical Physics Ulm University; Professor(part time 10%) of the Blackett Laboratory, Imperial College London.

研究领域:Quantum Information Science, Quantum Optics, Entanglement Theory,Quantum Sensing, Quantum Effects in Biology.

Published 251 papers in international refereed journals, including 14 articles and letters in Nature & Nature family, 61 Physical Review Letters and 2 Reviews of Modern Physics. Editor of first monograph in the field of Quantum Effects in Biology. 14705 citations, H-Index of 62 (Source: Web of Science 19th February 2015). Personally presented 193 invited and plenary lectures at international conferences, 148 seminars and colloquiua and 21 summer schools and postgraduate courses abroad.
